Far Eastern University (FEU) and De La Salle University (DLSU) will face off on Saturday in the UAAP Season 88 women’s football final at the UP Diliman Football Field in Quezon City. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m., with FEU aiming for a fourth consecutive title.
This marks the fifth finals meeting between the two teams. La Salle won their first clash in Season 81, 2-0, while FEU, led by Inday Tolentino, claimed the crown in Seasons 85, 86, and 87. The Lady Tamaraws are pursuing their 14th overall title after securing the first final berth with a 2-0 win over UST on Oct. 18.
FEU coach Let Dimzon emphasized discipline and focus. “Although we have already played La Salle, we need to be focused. We won’t relax just because we beat them. We really need to strengthen our attacks, the discipline in both attack and defending, and then also the rotation of players,” she said. FEU beat La Salle twice in the eliminations, both matches ending 2-1.
Golden Boot contenders Judie Rose Arevalo, Regine Rebosura, and Marinell Cristobal lead the Lady Tamaraws, while La Salle, despite setbacks to Ateneo and UST, seeks to break its runner-up streak with the help of Season 87 Rookie of the Year and Golden Boot co-winner Dani Tanjangco.
La Salle head coach Alvin Ocampo said, “Accept the pressure. Play with passion and love for the game and genuine enjoyment will come. Mental toughness teaches you to bounce back. We will compete.”
