A former village chairperson, listed as Quezon province’s third most wanted person, was arrested in Bulacan, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported Wednesday. The 44-year-old suspect, whose name was withheld, was apprehended by the Manila Police District (MPD) Intelligence and Operations Unit, in coordination with Unisan Municipal Police Station and San Miguel, Bulacan police, at the Tabang Exit of North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) around 2:05 p.m. on Tuesday.
The suspect, previously serving as Barangay Sampaloc 1 chief in Dasmariñas, Cavite, was wanted for two counts of statutory rape under an arrest warrant issued by the Gumaca, Quezon Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 172, with no bail recommended. Authorities tracked him down after weeks of intelligence gathering, surveillance, and coordinated efforts between multiple police units, according to NCRPO Director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin.
Aberin credited the arrest to relentless pursuit and strategic coordination among law enforcement agencies. He emphasized that the operation underscores the NCRPO’s commitment to bringing fugitives to justice and ensuring that wanted criminals face due process.
The suspect is currently detained at the MPD Custodial Facility, awaiting the return of the warrant to the court and the issuance of a commitment order.
