Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) asserted its dominance over San Sebastian College-Recoletos with a hard-fought 26-24, 25-14, 23-25, 25-18 victory on Friday, securing a share of the top spot in the NCAA Season 100 men’s volleyball tournament at the San Sebastian gym.
Frelwin Taculog powered the Generals with an all-around performance, tallying 22 points and 14 excellent receptions. With this win, EAC improved to 2-0, tying defending champion University of Perpetual Help Dalta System at the top of the standings.
The Altas earned their second victory on Thursday after sweeping Jose Rizal University, 25-20, 25-21, 25-19.
Paul Justine Say provided solid support for the Generals with 18 points, while team captain Jan Ruther Abor contributed 17. Kenneth Batiancila added seven points, including two blocks and an ace, as EAC wrapped up the match in one hour and 47 minutes.
On the other side, Kyle Angelo Villamor led San Sebastian with 18 points, including 15 attacks and three blocks, while also recording 16 excellent receptions. Despite his efforts, the Stags suffered their second straight loss after previously falling to Mapua University, 25-21, 23-25, 14-25, 14-25, on Feb. 21.
San Sebastian women sweep EAC
In the women’s division, San Sebastian dominated Emilio Aguinaldo College in straight sets, 25-17, 25-16, 25-13, to secure their second win of the season.
Team captain Katherine Santos spearheaded the Lady Stags’ offense with 13 points, including 10 attacks and three aces. Divine Roshielle Garcia chipped in nine points, while Kristine Joy Dionisio and Christina Marasigan added seven and six points, respectively.
San Sebastian completed the sweep in just one hour and 12 minutes, leaving EAC winless at 0-2. The Lady Generals were led by Elizza Mae Alimen and Jamaica Villena, who scored seven and six points, respectively.
