Dune: Awakening is finally making its way to living rooms, with Funcom announcing that the open-world survival game will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on Sept. 22, 2026.
Inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune novels and the blockbuster film universe of Denis Villeneuve and Legendary Entertainment, the game lets players step into the harsh desert world of Arrakis and build their own path from survival to power.
Preorders are now open on PlayStation and Xbox, with the standard edition priced at $49.99, the Deluxe Edition at $69.99, and the Ultimate Edition at $89.99.
Players who preorder the premium editions will receive special rewards, including early access, giving longtime Dune fans a chance to enter Arrakis ahead of launch.
Funcom chief executive Rui Casais described the console release as more than a platform expansion, saying it reflected over a year of work to deliver the most polished version of Dune: Awakening yet.
The September release will include console-friendly controls, an optimized interface, a target of 60 frames per second on PS5 and Xbox Series X in performance mode, and a new option to experience the full game in single-player.
Players can also expect the conclusion of Book One, the game’s cinematic storyline, along with adjustable difficulty settings for combat, harvesting, experience gains, and other survival elements.
Beyond launch, Funcom is preparing more content, including The Polar Cap, a free new survival map set in the icy pole of Arrakis. Dune: Awakening will also be available on Xbox Game Pass starting Sept. 22 and will support Xbox Play Anywhere, Xbox Cloud Gaming, ROG Xbox Ally, Steam Deck, and GeForce Now.
