DAVAO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region has turned over Php 600,000 worth of livelihood assistance to groups in Talaingod, Davao del Norte and Laak, Davao de Oro under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan program.
DSWD-11 said the Tatag IP Farmers PAMANA Livelihood Association in Barangay Palma Gil, Talaingod received Php 300,000 in seed capital on Sept. 15 for a motor spare parts supply and vulcanizing service center.
The group is composed of 21 members from Indigenous Cultural Communities and Indigenous Peoples, including former rebels or “Friends Rescued.”
In Special Barangay Talle, Kidawa, Laak, the Bagong Laak Farmers PAMANA Livelihood Association also received Php 300,000 in seed capital for an agricultural and veterinary supply business.
The association is composed of 17 former rebels and aims to provide livelihood opportunities while supplying farming and livestock needs in the community.
DSWD-11 said the projects are intended to promote self-reliance, stable income and community participation while giving beneficiaries greater ownership of local development initiatives.
The agency added that the PAMANA-Peace and Development Buong Bansa Mapayapa program continues to support livelihood, resilience and peace-building efforts in conflict-affected communities.
