A total of 152 families displaced by the heightened volcanic activity of Mayon Volcano in Tabaco City, Albay, received immediate assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 5 – Bicol Region following the volcano’s escalation to Alert Level 3 on Friday, October 30, 2026.

As part of the agency’s initial response, each affected family received one ready-to-eat food (RTEF) pack and 6.6 liters of bottled drinking water to help address their immediate food and water needs while staying in evacuation centers.

The assistance was distributed to families temporarily housed in the evacuation centers of Buang, Buhian, Mariroc, and San Antonio in Tabaco City.

Meanwhile, the DSWD assured that additional food and non-food items (FNFIs) are on standby to ensure the continuous delivery of assistance to families affected by Mayon’s unrest.

The agency’s response is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure that affected communities receive timely assistance and that the needs and welfare of displaced families are prioritized amid the ongoing volcanic activity.

Through its continuing relief operations, the DSWD remains committed to providing immediate humanitarian assistance and supporting communities affected by emergencies and disasters.
