DSWD-5, LGUs on full alert for storm Tino

The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5) has prepared 212,320 family food packs and 20,353 non-food items worth ₱184.09 million ahead of Severe Tropical Storm Tino (international name: Kalmaegi).
An additional ₱3 million in standby funds has also been allocated for immediate emergency needs. DSWD Regional Director Norman Laurio said these resources are strategically positioned to assist local government units in case of evacuations, displacements, or other storm-related emergencies.
Meanwhile, classes in kindergarten are suspended in nine Albay areas—Camalig, Daraga, Manito, Guinobatan, Rapu-Rapu, Sto. Domingo, Bacacay, Legazpi City, and Pio Duran, which extended the suspension up to secondary level—due to expected moderate to heavy rains.
In Camarines Sur, Governor Luis Raymund Villafuerte Jr. has placed the province under red alert in preparation for Tino’s impact.
“All local chief executives, disaster response officers, and barangay officials are directed to activate their emergency operations centers. Implement pre-emptive or forced evacuations in high-risk areas. Disseminate advisories and ensure community preparedness,” he said.
Fisherfolk and the public are strongly advised to avoid sea travel and other water-related activities until weather conditions improve.
