A magnitude 5.5 earthquake shook parts of Negros Occidental early on Monday morning, according to local seismic monitors.
The tremor struck at approximately 3:06 a.m., with its epicenter located about 16 kilometres southeast of the municipality of Candoni.
Initial reports indicate the quake was tectonic in nature.
