Drug parcel at Clark leads P18.5-M shabu haul in 3 operations

An intercepted parcel at Clark Freeport Zone led the largest of three anti-drug seizures that yielded more than 2.7 kilograms of suspected shabu worth about Php 18.5 million in Pampanga, Iloilo City and Batangas, police said.

Authorities found approximately 1.57 kilograms of suspected shabu inside an inbound package at the UPS Cargo Area in Mabalacat City, Pampanga. The shipment was valued at around Php 10.69 million.

A separate buy-bust operation in Barangay Balagtas, Batangas City, resulted in the seizure of about one kilogram of suspected shabu worth Php 6.8 million and the arrest of one person.

In Iloilo City, police arrested four suspects during an operation in Barangay Igcocong, La Paz, where roughly 152 grams of suspected shabu valued at Php 1.03 million were recovered.

Another individual linked to the Iloilo operation remained at large, according to the Philippine National Police.

Taken together, the three operations produced an estimated haul of more than 2.7 kilograms of suspected shabu and five arrests.

The seized substances were placed under police custody for laboratory examination and proper disposition, while complaints were being prepared against the arrested suspects.

PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the operations reflected efforts to stop illegal drugs before they reach communities, while stressing that enforcement actions must remain within legal procedures.
