Police arrested a 37-year-old man accused of fatally shooting another man following an argument in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City, on Sept. 1.
The suspect, identified by police only as alias “Budoy,” was tracked down later that day as authorities launched a pursuit shortly after the killing.
Investigators said the confrontation began with an argument between the suspect and the victim in Purok St. Vincent. Police alleged that the suspect subsequently left the area and went to his home.
The suspect allegedly obtained a firearm before returning to the scene and shooting the victim several times. The victim died at the scene, while the gunman fled, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Personnel from Bacolod City Police Station 7 responded and began searching for the suspect while coordinating with the Bacolod Forensic Unit to process the crime scene and examine evidence.
The search eventually led to Gardenville Subdivision in Barangay Tangub, where the suspect was apprehended during the same-day pursuit.
The authorities placed the suspect under the custody of Police Station 7 while authorities prepared the appropriate criminal complaint against him.
