MANILA – Motorists traveling through Manila may soon experience improved traffic flow as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) prepares to reopen the northbound lane of Dimasalang Bridge ahead of the Undas holidays.
The reopening is expected to provide relief to motorists and commuters who have been affected by traffic restrictions since rehabilitation works began in May.
With the anticipated increase in vehicle volume during All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, restoring the northbound lane is expected to help reduce traffic bottlenecks, improve vehicle movement, and ease pressure on surrounding roads.
The rehabilitation project involves retrofitting structural supports and replacing the bridge slab to improve the bridge’s safety and structural condition.
The temporary closure of the northbound lane has affected traffic movement along the Dimasalang corridor, an important road connection for motorists traveling through Manila.
Once reopened, the lane is expected to accommodate more northbound vehicles, potentially reducing travel delays and congestion along nearby routes.
The timing is particularly significant as thousands of motorists are expected to travel to cemeteries and memorial parks during Undas, traditionally one of the busiest travel periods in Metro Manila.
However, the extent of traffic improvement will depend on actual road conditions, vehicle volume, and any remaining construction restrictions.
Motorists are encouraged to monitor official DPWH and local traffic advisories for the confirmed reopening schedule and possible traffic adjustments.
The project forms part of ongoing government efforts to maintain road infrastructure while minimizing disruptions to daily transportation.
