The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has ordered a pause on all construction projects nationwide to ensure smoother travel during the Holy Week exodus.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said district engineers and regional offices were instructed to stop all ongoing work and suspend any stop-and-go traffic schemes related to road projects.
He emphasized that the flow of traffic must remain continuous to prevent congestion and delays for motorists.
The directive was issued over the weekend and will remain in effect until Easter Sunday, April 5.
Dizon explained that the measure is also intended to reduce fuel consumption for drivers amid rising prices and supply pressures linked to the Middle East conflict.
He said minimizing time spent on the road is a key way to ease the burden on commuters during the holiday.
The DPWH has coordinated with local offices to ensure the pause is implemented across all major highways and thoroughfares.
Authorities expect the measure to help motorists reach their destinations faster and travel more safely during the peak holiday period.
