Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. held a “lively and substantive discussion” with a delegation from the Notre Dame International Security Center (NDISC) regarding the Philippines’ perspective on regional security. The meeting took place earlier in the day, as noted in a statement released by the DND on Thursday night.
The DND highlighted that such interactions align with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to continuously engage with international partners. The visit was part of the Hans J. Morgenthau (HJM) Fellowship international engagement program, which includes PhD candidates and early postdoctoral fellows from various prestigious universities worldwide.
“During the meeting, Secretary Teodoro and the NDISC delegation engaged in a lively and substantive discussion on the Philippine perspective on regional security, allowing the HJM delegation to deepen their strategic understanding of Indo-Pacific and global security issues,” the DND stated.
The delegation expressed gratitude for the opportunity to exchange views with the Philippine defense leadership. The DND emphasized that this activity reflects its ongoing efforts to connect with international academic institutions, contributing to a more informed global discourse on defense and security.
