The Commission on Elections (Comelec), acting as the National Board of Canvassers, proclaimed Bagong Henerasyon as one of the winning party-list groups in the May 12 midterm elections on Friday. The group received 319,803 votes, securing one seat in the House of Representatives.
According to the Certificate of Proclamation (COP), First Nominee Roberto Gerard Nazal Jr. will represent Bagong Henerasyon in the 20th Congress for a term lasting until June 30, 2028. Comelec Chairperson George Garcia presented the COP to Bagong Henerasyon president Rochelle Custodio and secretary general Bernadette Banto at the Comelec head office in Intramuros, Manila.
“There was no ceremony,” Garcia noted in a message to reporters.
Bagong Henerasyon’s proclamation followed the Comelec en banc’s issuance of a Certificate of Finality and Entry of Judgment regarding a disqualification case against the group and its nominees. Last week, the Comelec denied a motion for reconsideration filed by lawyer Russel Stanley Geronimo, who sought the group’s disqualification after the Comelec First Division dismissed his petition for failing to meet mandatory requirements. The proclamation had been suspended pending the resolution of this petition.
