DILG starts probe into reported data leak

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is investigating an alleged data breach involving its Full Disclosure Policy Portal, reportedly affecting over 40 million records.

In a statement, the DILG confirmed that it is “verifying” claims of the breach, which surfaced on a dark-web forum.   While the probe is ongoing, the agency said its core services remain “stable.”

Cybersecurity group Deep Web Konek, which first raised the alarm, said the leak includes more than 22 gigabytes of internal data, such as system logs, audit trails, and user information.

The DILG has not yet provided details on how the breach occurred or which systems might have been compromised. Authorities are urging the public to await further updatesb
