The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has directed the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) to accelerate the completion of stalled housing projects in Caloocan City and incorporate improvements under Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.
The move aims to address long-standing delays and prevent further deterioration of the housing units.
During inspections in Barangays Bagumbong and Camarin, DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling instructed SHFC President Federico Laxa to hasten work on three housing developments serving around 5,000 residents.
Aliling stressed the need to complete the projects promptly and improve the housing conditions so that residents could benefit after years of waiting.
The projects include Alyansang Mamamayan ng Caloocan Housing Cooperative and HopeVille Phase 2 in Barangay Bagumbong, and Genesis Ville in Barangay Camarin. The Bagumbong projects were approved in 2014 and 2015, while the Camarin project was approved in 2014, totaling 35 low-rise buildings.
Inspections showed that prolonged pauses in construction had left some units in need of refurbishment. DHSUD and SHFC pledged support to finish the work and enhance the sites.
The department said the upgrades are intended to provide residents with a safer, more functional, and comfortable living environment under the Expanded 4PH Program.
