The Department of Education (DepEd) has called for full and sustained funding to support the country’s recovery in learners’ literacy, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure quality education for all.
In a statement Tuesday, DepEd said it is prioritizing foundational learning and literacy recovery by aligning its resources and streamlining operations.
“The Department of Education is calling for the full and sustained funding of all education mandates to address the country’s literacy challenges and give every learner a fair and equal chance to succeed,” it said.
DepEd assured continued collaboration with other government agencies and education stakeholders to maximize the government’s investment in the sector.
The agency’s ongoing reforms include the revised K-10 and Senior High School curriculum, teacher training programs, the DepEd Principals Academy, and the deployment of administrative officers to ease teachers’ workload.
DepEd has also expanded classroom construction, textbook procurement, and integration of education technology to improve learning conditions nationwide.
