PASAY, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported that its personnel stationed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) processed almost 68,000 departures per day during the Undas long weekend.

According to BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado, an average of 60,727 departures from October 27 to November 2. The highest logged number of departures was on October 30, with the BI processing 67,942 individuals.

All Saints’ Day Eve saw 61,017 total departures across all international ports of entry and exit, and 51,060 arrivals on the same date.

Arrivals on the said period averaged 48,688, with November 2 having the highest logged arrivals. A total of 55,303 inbound travelers were processed on Sunday.

Viado said that the Bureau expects more travalers in the coming days as the holiday season kicks in. “We are pleased to see the steady recovery of outbound and inbound travel, which reflects the confidence of our people to travel again,” he said.

The BI reported that airport operations throughout the weekend were successful and well-coordinated, with all personnel on full alert and closely monitoring passenger flow. While there were occasional heavy lines during peak hours, these were resolved immediately through deployment adjustments and coordination with airport authorities.

The Bureau also reminded the public that it posts updates on airport operations every two hours through its official Facebook page, facebook.com/officialbureauofimmigration, allowing passengers to better prepare for their trips and plan their airport arrivals accordingly.

Looking ahead, the BI announced that e-gates are coming soon to further streamline airport processing. The Bureau has initiated the procurement process for additional e-gates, while the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) is also expected to acquire more units to support the growing volume of travelers.

“With the continuous increase in passenger volume over the years, automation is no longer optional—it’s a necessity,” the Bureau stated.

The BI thanked the traveling public for their patience and cooperation throughout the busy holiday period, assuring that it remains committed to improving efficiency and passenger experience in all ports nationwide.
