The Department of Education (DepEd) has reportedly received recognition from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education following the Philippines’ improvement in reading performance in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2025.

In an announcement dated November 1, 2026, the government said Harvard recognized DepEd after the Philippines achieved what it described as the world’s fastest-improving status in reading performance.

The announcement highlighted the country’s reported progress in improving students’ reading skills, a key area of concern in the Philippine education system.

The development comes as DepEd continues efforts to strengthen foundational literacy, improve learning outcomes, and address educational challenges affecting Filipino students.
