
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has raised an alert for mariners following reports of a foreign vessel in distress near Suluan Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
In a notice issued Friday, the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Eastern Samar identified the ship as Xiang Guang 11, MMSI No. 352001540.
The vessel was last tracked about 54 nautical miles east-northeast of Alegria Beach in Santa Monica, Surigao del Norte.
Authorities urged all ships and watercraft in the Suluan Island area to remain vigilant and watch for the distressed vessel.
Mariners who spot Xiang Guang 11 were instructed to “render immediate assistance, in accordance with maritime safety protocols,” and report sightings to the nearest Coast Guard unit.
The advisory is part of the Coast Guard’s ongoing efforts to ensure maritime safety and facilitate rescue or assistance operations.
As of Friday, officials have not disclosed the condition of the vessel or the number of crew members on board.
