After 36 years, Cubao’s iconic baking supplies store Chocolate Lover Inc., known for its castle-like facade, will close this December. The announcement came from owner Annie Carmona-Lim on November 18 via social media.
Dubbed the “Chocolate Queen,” Lim shared,
“Gusto ko lang pong ipaalam sa inyo na magsasarado na po kami. December 27, 2025 po ‘yung last day namin… Talagang hindi namin pababayaan ‘yung mga customers namin… Mahigit isang buwan na lang po ‘yon, kaya gusto ko pong batiin din kayo ng Merry Christmas.”
Lim explained the closure is due to her children living abroad and not wanting to inherit the business.
“Ang dahilan po kasi ay ayaw na rin po kasing manahin ng mga anak ko… Hirap na rin po ako magbiyahe-biyahe,” she said.
The property is up for sale, but with no buyers yet, Lim plans to rent it out.
“Alam niyo po naman na ibinibenta ko itong castle pero wala pa rin namang buyer kaya balak sana namin habang walang buyer ay paupahan…”
Starting in 1989 with just P6,000 after surviving cancer, Lim built Chocolate Lover into a beloved destination for baking enthusiasts, inspiring generations with its fairytale-like store.
