In a major drug bust in Cagayan de Oro City, law-enforcement teams seized approximately 17 kilograms of shabu — with a street value estimated at ₱115.6 million — and arrested two suspects on Tuesday.
The operation, carried out in Barangay Kauswagan by personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Police Regional Office 10’s Drug Enforcement Unit, led to the apprehension of individuals identified as “RL,” 19, of Barangay Kauswagan, and “JM,” 36, of Barangay Tablon.
Following weeks of surveillance targeting suspected drug couriers, the suspects attempted to evade capture but were subdued.
According to PRO-10, the bust represents one of the largest anti-drug operations to date in the Northern Mindanao region. The arrested individuals are currently in PDEA-10 custody and face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano (acting director of PRO-10) noted that the operation effectively disrupted a significant drug distribution network, helping to prevent further spread of illegal narcotics in the area. (PNA)
