Cardinal Advincula to lead fiesta Mass for Immaculate Conception

Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula will lead the Fiesta Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception at Manila Cathedral in Intramuros on Monday.

In a social media announcement, the Minor Basilica said Advincula will preside over the 12:10 p.m. Eucharistic Celebration.

“On December 8, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, Patroness of the Manila Cathedral and of the Philippines, this is the schedule of Masses at the Cathedral,” it said.

Four other Masses will be held. The 8 a.m. Mass will be celebrated by Manila Cathedral Vice Rector Fr. Vicente Bautista, followed by the 10 a.m. Mass to be led by Fr. Paul Woo of the Mary Help of Christians Parish.

In the afternoon, Fr. Leo Ignacio of San Carlos Seminary will preside over the 4 p.m. Mass, while Cathedral Rector Msgr. Rolando dela Cruz will celebrate the 6 p.m. Mass.

Under Republic Act No. 10966, December 8 is a special non-working holiday nationwide in commemoration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Ahead of the feast day, Intramuros was to host the Grand Marian Procession on Sunday, featuring various Marian images from across the country.

The National Pilgrim Relic of Saint Carlo Acutis was also scheduled for public veneration at a roadside altar along Muralla Street, beside the Baluarte de Dilao, during the procession. (PNA)
