The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT-13) held the “HackforGov Capture the Flag 2025” on Friday, putting students from across the Caraga Region to the test in cybersecurity skills.
Twelve teams, comprising 48 students from state universities and colleges, competed in ethical hacking, digital forensics, and cyber threat analysis. Participants tackled real-world scenarios on a DICT-owned platform, identifying vulnerabilities, solving puzzles, and defending virtual networks.
“Students proved their skills in ethical hacking, digital forensics and cyber threats analysis,” said Menkent Barcelon, DICT-13 cybersecurity focal person.
Winning teams will advance to the national competition next month and may receive additional DICT training. Barcelon noted that past champions have been hired by both government agencies and private companies, highlighting the program’s role in shaping future cyber defenders.
