The Police Regional Office 13 (Caraga) conducted inspections of firecracker display zones, authorized retailers, and major shopping centers ahead of the New Year celebrations.

The campaign aims to prevent the sale of illegal and unsafe firecrackers that could cause accidents and fires, PRO-13 information chief Maj. Jennifer Omiter said.

PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV led a daylong inspection across the region, accompanied by the command group, regional staff, and local police chiefs.

The team also visited designated Police Assistance Desks (PADs) and checkpoints along major roads to strengthen public safety during the holiday period.

“These PADs will also serve as easy access for directions and safety reminders for residents and visitors during the celebrations,” Omiter said, noting they also provide rapid support and enhance public trust.

Magistrado and his team checked public transport terminals and seaports to ensure proper protocols were in place for the influx of travelers returning home or visiting families.

Authorities urged residents and travelers to follow safety guidelines and report violations to help ensure a safe and secure New Year celebration.
