Minimum wage earners in the Caraga region started receiving higher pay this month following the rollout of the first phase of a two-step wage adjustment.

Labor authorities implemented a P20 daily increase effective January 3, raising the region’s minimum wage to P455.

A second P20 hike is scheduled to take effect on May 1, which will bring the minimum daily pay in Caraga to P475.

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board said the wage order was based on economic assessments, stakeholder consultations, and public hearings.

Once fully implemented, the combined P40 increase would translate to about P1,040 more per month for workers earning the minimum wage on a 26-day work schedule.

The adjustment covers private sector employees across agriculture, manufacturing, retail, services, and non-agricultural industries in Caraga’s cities and provinces.

House helpers in the region will also receive higher pay, with the minimum monthly wage rising by P500 to P6,500, as labor officials reminded employers to comply with the new wage order.
