The Caraga Region records an average of 40,230 births annually from 2013 to 2022, with more than 90 percent attended by health professionals, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority.
PSA data showed that total births in the region reached 39,683 in 2022, higher than the 35,903 recorded in 2021.
The highest number of births during the decade was logged in 2016 with 42,946, while the lowest was recorded in 2021.
The PSA said that in 2022, about 93.8 percent of births in Caraga were attended by health professionals.
Of these, 65.8 percent were assisted by physicians, 26.5 percent by midwives, and 1.5 percent by nurses.
The data also showed that male births slightly outnumbered female births, accounting for 52.2 percent of total births over the 10-year period.
Among Caraga provinces, Agusan del Norte posted the highest proportion of births.
Dinagat Islands recorded the lowest share of births in the region.
Meanwhile, Caraga averaged about 11,704 marriages annually from 2013 to 2022.
The lowest number of marriages was recorded in 2020, when only 6,827 unions were registered.
