BAGUIO CITY — Camp John Hay recorded an increase in visitor traffic as more shared spaces and attractions were opened to the public, its management said.
Manjit Reandi, president and chief executive officer of John Hay Management Corp., said the expansion of common areas and free facilities encouraged more people to visit the complex.
He noted that the reopening of an upgraded playground in recent weeks also contributed to the rise in foot traffic.
Reandi said new attractions such as Ayuyang Park and Tranquility Park, along with bazaars organized with support from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, drew additional visitors.
He added that smaller businesses within the camp reported improved sales, while data from larger hotels were still being consolidated.
Records showed that visitor numbers reached about 800,000 in January, higher than figures logged during the same period last year, while February and March also posted increases despite falling short of some targets.
Reandi said visitors from nearby towns in Benguet and neighboring provinces continued to contribute to the steady flow of guests, with management conducting regular monitoring to support business operations.
He said upcoming developments, including a new hotel and ongoing plans aligned with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, along with environmental and transport initiatives, were being prepared to sustain growth and improve services within the camp.
