Tropical Depression Caloy is expected to weaken into a low pressure area on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In its morning bulletin, Pagasa said the system remained a weak tropical cyclone, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching up to 55 kph.
As of the latest monitoring, Caloy was located about 570 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, moving west-northwest at 15 kph.
The agency said the cyclone was likely to lose strength within the day and transition into a low pressure area.
Meanwhile, another weather disturbance outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was being tracked around 2,100 kilometers east of Mindanao.
The same weather specialist said the second system had a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
The trough of Caloy was expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Samar and the Dinagat Islands.
In Metro Manila and other parts of the country, generally hot and humid conditions prevailed, with isolated thunderstorms likely in the afternoon and evening due to easterlies. No gale warning was raised over any of the country’s seaboards.
