Authorities from the Criminal Investigation and Detention Group of the Philippine National Police served a subpoena on Monday to Senator Ronald Dela Rosa in connection with an investigation into alleged killings linked to the anti-drug campaign.
The order directed the senator to personally appear before CIDG investigators to address issues surrounding the case.
The subpoena was delivered at around 9 a.m. and required Dela Rosa to report to Camp Crame within the week.
He was instructed to attend the inquiry on Thursday at 10 a.m. to respond to questions, execute a sworn statement, and submit relevant documents.
The directive also required him to bring records that may help shed light on the matters under investigation.
Authorities said a subpoena duces tecum compels a respondent to produce documents or evidence that may aid in the probe.
The investigation covers incidents in Davao City during the time Dela Rosa served as police chief while Rodrigo Duterte was mayor.
Dela Rosa later became chief of the Philippine National Police from 2016 to 2018, when the government’s anti-drug campaign was carried out.
