Police operatives arrested the top most wanted person in Calabarzon in a manhunt operation in Mondragon, Northern Samar, marking a major catch in an ongoing campaign against fugitives.

The 26-year-old suspect, a native of Caloocan City, had been hiding in the province when authorities tracked him down on May 25 through coordinated intelligence work.

He was arrested by joint teams from local police units and regional intelligence groups operating in Calabarzon and Eastern Visayas.

Authorities said the arrest stemmed from a warrant issued by a Regional Trial Court in Antipolo City for 13 counts of statutory rape, with no bail recommended.

Police informed the suspect of the charges against him and his constitutional rights before bringing him to a local police station for processing.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the operation underscored intensified efforts to hunt down wanted persons even outside their home regions.

Police chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez said the arrest reflected the force’s commitment to ensuring fugitives are held accountable.

He also cited strong coordination among police units as key to the successful operation, adding that authorities will continue pursuing suspects who attempt to evade justice.
