CAAP warns travelers against bomb jokes during Undas

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has placed all airports nationwide on heightened alert for the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day rush, reminding travelers not to make bomb jokes that could disrupt airport operations.

“Huwag kayong gagawa ng bomb joke sa loob ng terminal o sa loob ng eroplano dahil maraming mapiperhuwisyong pasahero,” CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said in a Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon interview on Tuesday.

Under Presidential Decree 1727, making bomb jokes or false bomb threats is a criminal offense punishable by up to five years in prison, a fine of up to PHP40,000, or both.

Apolonio also reminded travelers to avoid bringing prohibited items to prevent delays, as CAAP expects around 5.8 million passengers across 44 commercial airports during the Undas holidays.

He said all airport staff are on heightened alert and additional airline personnel have been deployed to handle the surge of travelers.

Airport security, medical, and fire response teams are on standby for emergencies, while airlines have assigned larger aircraft on busy routes to accommodate higher passenger volume.

Caticlan, Kalibo, Busuanga, Surigao, and Zamboanga are expected to see the highest traffic this week.

The government’s “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos Undas 2025” will run from Oct. 30 to Nov. 4 to ensure safe and efficient airport operations.
