The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) has issued a subpoena to former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Elizaldy “Zaldy” Co, who is being linked to alleged kickbacks from questionable flood control projects.
ICI Executive Director Brian Keith Hosaka said the subpoena, dated Oct. 20, was sent to Co’s last known addresses in Pasig and Bicol.
“The date of the subpoena to former Cong. Elizalde Co was dated Oct. 20, and the date of the hearings are set on Nov. 11 and 12,” Hosaka told reporters.
Co, who resigned from the House of Representatives on Sept. 29, was first asked to appear before the commission on Oct. 8.
The former chair of the House Appropriations Committee reportedly left for the United States for medical treatment when he was implicated in the alleged anomalies.
Meanwhile, Hosaka clarified that the commission has not invited Senator Christopher “Bong” Go to testify.
“No invitation has been sent by the commission to Senator Bong Go to appear as resource person,” he said, addressing reports that Go had supposedly refused to attend the inquiry.
