The Bureau of Customs (BOC) collected PHP106.93 million in revenues from 17 public auctions of seized and abandoned goods held between July and September.
In a news release Sunday, the BOC said the auctions were conducted at the Port of Manila, the Manila International Container Port, and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport by their respective Auction and Cargo Disposal Divisions.
Among the items auctioned were consumer goods, vehicles, fuel products, industrial materials, furniture, and various merchandise from forfeited shipments.
BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said proceeds from the auctions boost government revenues and fund key public programs and services.
“Through the consistent conduct of lawful and transparent auctions, the bureau fulfills its dual mandate of protecting government revenues and facilitating legitimate trade,” he said.
