Acting in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s for a heightened crusade against illegal narcotics to protect Filipino communities from the menace of drugs, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) through Port of Clark, working jointly with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Airport Interdiction Unit (PDEA-AIU), intercepted a parcel containing cocaine and ecstasy which originated from London, United Kingdom and was bound for Dumaguete City, Philippines.
The operation was initiated following information from PDEA regarding the incoming shipment, which arrived on April 25, 2025. On April 28, 2025, a K-9 sniff test conducted by customs examiners and PDEA operatives yielded positive results for illegal substances, prompting a full physical examination of the parcel.
Inside the parcel were travel kits, first aid kits, and five vacuum-sealed transparent plastic packs. Further examination found that two vacuum-sealed packages contained a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine, weighing approximately 128 grams with an estimated standard value of ₱678,400.00. Additionally, three vacuum-sealed transparent packs were found containing a yellowish powdery substance suspected to be Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA)or “Ecstasy,” weighing approximately 208 grams, with an estimated standard value of ₱884,000.00.
Samples were submitted to PDEA for chemical analysis, which confirmed the substances as MDMA and Cocaine, dangerous drugs listed under Republic Act No. 9165, as amended.
A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued against the shipment for violating sections 118(g), 119(d), and 1113 paragraphs (f), (i), and (l) of Republic Act No. 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), in relation to R.A. No. 9165.
District Collector Jairus S. Reyes underscored that this operation is a potent reminder of the importance of vigilance and close inter-agency coordination, while reaffirming Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio’s directive to strengthen border protection and intelligence-driven enforcement efforts.
“As we work closely with partner agencies, our mission goes beyond seizures—we are protecting our communities, preserving lives, and supporting the nation’s development agenda under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,” said Commissioner Rubio. “Our efforts at the borders are vital to the overall security and health of the Filipino people.”
