The Bureau of Customs at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) intercepted 126 inbound parcels containing dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, with an estimated street value of Php 56.95 million, the agency reported Thursday.
The seizures took place between February 3 and 6, 2026, in coordinated operations with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG).
The parcels, declared as ordinary consumer goods such as clothing and magazines, were abandoned and flagged during routine inspections, highlighting the continued use of postal and courier channels by criminal groups to move illegal drugs.
All recovered items were turned over to PDEA for proper disposition and further investigation, as the shipments violated the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said the operations demonstrate sustained vigilance and inter-agency cooperation to prevent the entry of illicit substances into the country.
The latest haul raised BOC-NAIA’s total drug seizures for the year to over ₱377 million, reflecting intensified monitoring of postal and courier facilities under District Collector Maria Yasmin Mapa.
Authorities said they will continue working with partner agencies to ensure that ports and delivery channels remain secure against smuggling and other illegal activities.
