The Bureau of Customs–Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) intercepted eight inbound parcels containing suspected marijuana at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City as part of efforts to tighten border security and curb illegal drugs.
The operation was conducted on Jan. 22 in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group.
The parcels were declared as consumer goods such as clothing, dog food, and board games but were flagged during inspection.
Examination revealed 2,482 grams of dried marijuana, locally known as kush, with an estimated street value of ₱3.72 million.
The seized items were turned over to PDEA for proper handling, as the interception violated the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and provisions of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
“The successful interception of these illegal drugs reflects the Bureau’s sustained efforts to monitor inbound mail and prevent criminal syndicates from exploiting postal channels,” BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said.
