BIR Makati launches mentoring program for micro, small taxpayers

The Bureau of Internal Revenue in Makati has launched a mentoring program aimed at helping micro and small taxpayers better understand and comply with tax rules.

The Micro and Small Taxpayers Assistance and Mentoring Program, or MS-TAMP, was launched on Sept. 15 as a support and education initiative rather than an audit program.

The BIR said the program includes data-driven monitoring, taxpayer education and coordinated assistance to identify where taxpayers may need guidance and help them comply correctly.

BIR Revenue Region No. 8A-Makati City also issued implementing orders establishing the program’s organizational structure, an official Viber community channel, an MS-TAMP infomercial and the sending of assistance notices to taxpayers.

Regional Director Antonino Ilagan said the initiative is intended to reach taxpayers early and provide guidance before compliance issues become more difficult to address.

BIR Commissioner Charlito Mendoza said the program is designed to help taxpayers understand their obligations, resolve concerns and make compliance easier.
