BINI took home multiple honors at the 38th Awit Awards held at Meralco Theater in Pasig City on Sunday.
The P-pop girl group was voted People’s Voice Favorite Group Artist, while their album Talaarawan won People’s Voice Favorite Album of the Year. Their hit single “Salamin, Salamin” earned Best Dance/Electronic Recording, and their fanbase, the Blooms, received the Vibe Stan Award.
Other Kapamilya artists recognized included Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, who won Best Original Soundtrack Recording for Ulit-Ulit from Pamilya Sagrado, and Maki, whose “Dilaw” was named Best Pop Recording. Juan Karlos, Kyle Echarri, and Noel Cabangon won Best Regional Recording, while Moira and Juan Karlos took Best Ballad Recording.
Grand awards went to beloved OPM acts: Cup of Joe’s “Misteryoso” won Song of the Year, Ben&Ben’s The Traveller Across Dimensions earned Album of the Year, and Lola Amour’s “Namimiss Ko Na” took Record of the Year.
Special recognitions included Ely Buendia, who received the Dangal ng Musikang Pilipino Award. “I’m happy and proud,” he said. “I try to stay relevant by supporting younger artists. That is why I formed a music label.”
Performances featured BINI’s “Salamin, Salamin,” Regine Velasquez’s duet with Rob Deniel, and P-pop acts BGYO. BGYO member Gelo said, “This is a way for us para maghilahan pataas and ma-acknowledge natin mga dapat ma-acknowledge.”
Other winners spanned genres and technical categories, including SB19 for Best Global Collaboration Recording and Best Music Video, Fast Pitch for Best Rock Recording, and Devonaire District for Best Jazz and Best Christmas Recording.
The event highlighted OPM’s vibrant talent across genres, celebrating both new and established artists.
