The Bangsamoro government turned over 100 housing units to qualified beneficiaries in Barangay Tamontaka Mother on Thursday under its Kapayapaan sa Pamayanan project.

The core shelters, equipped with solar-powered lights, were awarded to low-income Bangsamoro families in the community.

BARMM Assistant Senior Minister Abdullah Cusain said the project provided beneficiaries with safer and more dignified living conditions.

Cusain, who also serves as KAPYANAN project manager, said the turnover gave 100 families permanent homes and greater security.

Cotabato City Mayor Bruce Matabalao welcomed the project, saying it gave indigent residents access to decent housing.

The latest turnover marked the second batch of 100 units awarded in the village. Matabalao said the city was finalizing another 100 homes to complete the 300-unit target for Barangay Tamontaka Mother.

Barangay chairperson Datu Jawawi Sema said local officials would help ensure that the relocated families were properly integrated into the community.

Since 2019, the BARMM government has programmed the construction of 7,630 core shelters across the region. Thousands have been completed and awarded in phases, although the regional government has yet to release an updated total.
