After more than eight years of legal battles, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finalized their divorce settlement.
Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, expressed the actress’s relief in a statement to the media. He noted that Jolie and the couple’s six children had already left the shared properties years ago.
“[Angelina Jolie] and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” the lawyer said in a statement.
“This is one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago,” Simon said. “Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”
Pitt’s representatives have not yet commented on the terms of the settlement.
Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, two years after the couple’s marriage and more than a decade after they began their relationship following their roles in the 2005 film “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”.
