More than 3,700 people in Antique were affected by heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Inday, according to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).
The PSWDO reported that 1,206 families, or 3,782 individuals, were affected by the weather disturbance. Of these, 159 families or 469 people were staying in evacuation centers, while others temporarily stayed with relatives and friends.
Evacuees came from the municipalities of Tobias Fornier, Anini-y, Barbaza, and Culasi.
The agency also recorded 17 damaged houses, including one that was completely destroyed and 16 that sustained partial damage.
In Barbaza town, authorities conducted preemptive evacuations on July 8 for residents near the Dalanas River due to the risk of flooding caused by continuous rainfall.
The municipal social welfare office said 60 families or 219 individuals remained in evacuation centers following the evacuation.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provided 690 family food packs to evacuees and other affected residents, while local authorities prepared additional relief supplies.
The local government also continued providing hot meals and psychosocial support to displaced families as recovery efforts continued.
