The death toll from a pre-dawn landslide in Calanogas, Lanao del Sur, rose to six after another victim was recovered from a river in Malabang town on Friday.

Police said the remains of a woman identified only as “Nur” from Barangay Ngingir, Calanogas, were found floating in Sitio Malade, Barangay Pialot, at around 4:45 p.m.

Authorities believed the victim was carried away by floodwaters from Calanogas following the landslide triggered by heavy rains linked to Typhoon Inday.

The landslide in Calanogas had earlier left five people dead and six others missing. Search and rescue teams continued operations for the remaining missing residents.

Police Regional Office in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region spokesperson Capt. Steffi Salanguit said the victim’s relatives had already claimed her remains.

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence said search efforts continued as responders looked for the missing villagers.

Meanwhile, the BARMM Ministry of Social Services and Development reported that Typhoon Inday affected 18,058 families or 90,140 individuals across 82 villages in 15 municipalities in Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, and Lanao del Sur.

The agency said assessment, relief distribution, and other assistance programs remained ongoing in affected communities.
