Alas Pilipinas Volleyball Player Ike Barilea Dies at 21

Ike Andrew Barilea, a rising star of the Alas Pilipinas Men’s volleyball team, has passed away, the national team announced Tuesday. The cause of death was not disclosed.

In a Facebook post, the team expressed their grief: “The court feels emptier, and our hearts heavier. Rest easy, ALAS IKE BARILEA. Thank you for the laughter, the memories, and the heart you gave to the team. Heaven gained an angel, but we lost a piece of ours. Fly high, our dear ALAS.”

Barilea, who had just turned 21 two days prior, was part of the national pool for the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship under coach Angiolino Frigoni.

He also played for Alas Pilipinas-Cignal in the 2025 AVC Men’s Volleyball Champions League and represented 1 Silay Volleyball Club in the 2025 PNVF U21 National Volleyball Championships.
