Tropical Cyclone Ada (international name Nokaen), has affected approximately 260,000 people across the Bicol and Caraga regions, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Monday.
According to the agency’s latest update, the storm has impacted 78,875 families living in 398 barangays.
As of Monday morning, over 5,500 families remain in 273 evacuation centers, while another 4,582 families are receiving assistance outside of government facilities.
Authorities are still validating reports of two deaths and two injuries in the Bicol Region linked to the storm’s passage.
Travel remains heavily disrupted, with 9,142 passengers stranded across five regions. The NDRRMC noted that 3,240 rolling cargoes, 17 vessels, and seven motor bancas are currently grounded due to sea conditions.
In its 5:00 a.m. bulletin, state weather bureau PAGASA announced that Ada has weakened into a tropical depression.
Despite the weakening, disaster officials continue to monitor affected areas for flooding and landslides as recovery efforts begin.
