An impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was submitted to the House of Representatives on Monday, accusing him of involvement in alleged irregularities tied to unprogrammed appropriations.

Lawyer Andre De Jesus personally lodged the complaint at the Office of the House Secretary General early in the day.

Deputy Minority Leader and Pusong Pinoy party-list Rep. Jernie Nisay endorsed the filing, a requirement for the complaint to be formally received.

House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil accepted the documents, with photographs of the submission later shared with the media.

The allegations focus on supposed anomalies connected to the handling of funds under the 2025 national budget.

The House has previously dealt with impeachment complaints involving Vice President Sara Duterte over alleged misuse of confidential funds during her term.

Meanwhile, the filing makes Marcos the subject of his first impeachment case since assuming the presidency in 2022.
