A town that votes together, stays together

Pantao Ragat, a town in Lanao del Norte, gained attention online for its block voting pattern in the 2025 Midterm Elections. Remarkably, the town voted unitedly for only one candidate in every position.

All 12 senatorial slots were filled by the same set of candidates, with the 12th-ranked senator-elect Camille Villar receiving 9,170 votes. In stark contrast, the 13th-ranked senator only received 836 votes. The same voting pattern was observed in the party-list race, where the party-list group Pamilya Ko garnered 91.29% of the town’s votes.

Most local positions in Pantao Ragat were uncontested. However, the town overwhelmingly favored just one in the races with opposing candidates. Congressional candidate Amer Nagamura Moner Sr. received 11,942 votes, while his opponent, Amirah Dimaporo, garnered only one. The same outcome occurred in the vice gubernatorial race, where candidate Allan Lim received just a single vote.

This isn’t the first time the town exhibited such voting behavior. In the 2022 elections, Pantao Ragat made headlines for exclusively voting for Leni Robredo for president, with all other candidates receiving zero votes.

Pantao Ragat is a remote town in Lanao del Norte’s highlands. According to the 2020 Census, it has a population of 30,247 residents.
