2 Sunwest execs in flood control scandal signal surrender — CIDG

Two of the three officials of Sunwest Construction and Development Corporation currently facing arrest for their alleged involvement in a flood control project scandal have sent feelers to surrender, according to the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG).

PNP-CIDG Acting Director Police Major General Robert Alexander Morico II confirmed that while a manhunt is ongoing for all three at-large individuals, relatives of two have reached out to authorities regarding their surrender.

According to Morico, the two officials expressed fear and hesitation, largely because they claim to be “dummy” personnel in high-ranking company positions but lack the personal wealth and capacity to afford legal representation.

“We must understand that the three being sought locally hold high positions in that company, but they are just dummies, so basically they do not have the money and capacity to pay for a lawyer,” Morico explained.

The CIDG official noted that while the agency welcomes the intent to surrender and assures the accused that their human rights will be respected, they cannot indefinitely wait.

The CIDG is under a legal obligation to enforce the warrant of arrest already issued against the trio.

The three officials named in the arrest warrants are Consuelo Dayto Adon, Anthony Li Ngo, and Noel Yap Cao, all listed as members of Sunwest’s Board of Directors.
