BAGUIO CITY – Defending champion Luisita Golf and Country Club (LGCC) tightened its grip on the Seniors Fil Championship, building a comfortable 25-point cushion heading into the third round on Tuesday (Dec. 2) at the Baguio Country Club (BCC) for the 75th Januarius Fil-Am Golf Invitational.
Luisita compiled a two-day total of 259 (132-127) at the Camp John Hay course. Riviera Golf stayed in second with 234 (113-121), while Srixon IMG Team 1 held third at 226 (107-119).
Ronald ‘Ronnie’ Littaua spearheaded Luisita’s Day 2 charge with 34 points, followed by Ferdie Barbosa with 33 and Benjamin Sumulong with 28.
Abraham ‘Abe’ Rosal, who is playing with medical clearance after spine surgery, struggled with 32 points—a dip from his scorching three-under 39 in the opening round.
Riviera Golf leaned on Kyung Young ‘Jung’ Jung and Koji Yasuma, who both fired 32 points. Chan Yeong ‘Charlie’ Gim added 29, while Erwin Mendiola contributed 28.
Jun Jun Plana carried Srixon IMG Team 1 with 34 points, supported by Theodore ‘Theody’ Pascual (30), Joseph Tambunting (29), and Ramon ‘Thirdy’ Escaño III (26). Valley Golf sits at 195 (110-85), while Leeward Fil-Am of Hawaii posted 168 (86-82).
In the Am Championship division, Green Water managed only 78 at BCC—well below its opening-round 104—but still preserved its lead with a 182 total. It now holds an eight-point edge over Summit Point Golf, which has 174 (81-83). Mamala Bay is third with 170 (83-87), followed by Srixon IMG Team 2 with 157.
Green Water’s scorers were Roland Punzalan with 27, Douglas ‘Doug’ Puckett with 20, Suny Fontilea with 18, and Jose Quimson with 13. The Am Championship flight heads next to Camp John Hay.
