2 dead in Binondo condominium fire early Wednesday

A fire on early Wednesday morning claimed the lives of two people at a condominium in Binondo, Manila, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The blaze began around 3:25 a.m. at the Anchor Skysuites, a 56-story building on Ongpin Street.

The fire quickly escalated to the first alarm by 3:41 a.m. and was declared under control by 4:37 a.m. Firefighters fully extinguished the flames by 4:51 a.m.

The fire originated in a unit on the 35th floor of the building, which caused an estimated P4.5 million in property damage, the BFP reported.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing.
